The Department in Conversation is a podcast from the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary.

Episode 10 featured Dr. Lianne Tomfohr-Madsen, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and cross-appointed with Community Health Sciences. The discussion focused on kindness and compassion and highlighted Dr. Tomfohr-Madsen’s work planting the seed for possible collaboration with CHS faculty members.

What is CBT-I?

Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I or CBTI) is a short, structured, and evidence-based approach to dealing with symptoms of insomnia. An article from Sleep Foundation provides a summary of how CBT-I works, as well as some helpful tips for sleeping with insomnia.

Recent Publication: Insomnia symptoms during pregnancy

A recently published review paper from the Journal of Sleep Research summarized the currently existing data on prevalence of insomnia symptoms during pregnancy. The overall prevalence of insomnia symptoms during pregnancy was 38.2%. Read the abstract here.
